Revival House in the Kitchen – French Toast Bake

Welcome back to Revival House in the Kitchen! This month we are bringing you an apple french toast bake recipe that is sure to become a family breakfast favorite. Read on to get the full recipe! 

French Toast:1 cup packed brown sugar½ cup butter or margarine2 tablespoons light corn syrup2 large tart apples, peeled and sliced quarter-inch thick3 eggs1 cup milk1 tablespoon vanilla9 slices day-old French bread, sliced three-quarter inch thick

Directions: Cook brown sugar, butter and syrup until thick, about 5-7 minutes. Pour into an ungreased 9” x 13” pan. Arrange apples on top. Beat eggs, milk and vanilla. Dip bread in egg mixture for 1 minute. Place bread over apples. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Bake 35-40 minutes, uncovered, at 350 degrees.

Syrup:1 cup applesauce1 – 10-ounce jar apple jelly1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon¼ tablespoon ground cloves

Directions: Combine syrup ingredients. Cook and stir until hot. Serve over French toast.

Optional syrup: Can also substitute maple syrup.
