when is the right time to start your project?
Determining the right time to start your project is the first decision (of many) you'll have to make. The two main factors that go into this decision are typically time and finances. The timeline and cost of your remodel or new build will depend on many factors, but you will save on both by working with a professional.
Your project's timeline will depend on the scope of the project, size of the space, and several other factors, but here are some very general estimates:
- New build projects: more than one year.
- Entire kitchen or bath remodel process: more than 6 months.
- Kitchen or bath remodel construction phase: approximately 4-8 weeks.
Again, there are a lot of factors that contribute to a project's timeline, and these are very general estimates.
The budget calculators below, created by the National Kitchen & Bath Association, will give you a general idea of how much your project will cost.
what is the first step?
Once you decide it's time to go ahead with your project, it's time to set up an appointment with a kitchen & bath designer. Including us in your project from day one will help ensure that your cabinetry arrives on time and your project is completed in a timely and efficient manner. Be prepared to discuss your budget, the scope of your project, and design direction.
To make the most of your initial consultation with a kitchen & bath designer, it's a good idea to take some time to think about what you want. Starting a Pinterest board is a great way to communicate with your designer the style you're going for and any specific appliances, storage accessories, or materials you'd like to use. You can check out Revival House's Pinterest for inspiration or head over to our Partners page to learn more about the brands we work with.
You’ll also need to be prepared to discuss your expectations for scope, budget, and your level of involvement in the project. Being honest about the desired scope of your project allows your designer to help set realistic expectations for budget and timeline. Let your designer know right away of any upcoming plans you have that might take place during the project like trips, vacations, graduation parties, or weddings.
