NEUTRAL COTTAGE
NEUTRAL COTTAGE
With large, sun-facing windows, a unique willow and grey color scheme, and innovative cabinetry that stretches floor to ceiling, this kitchen was completely transformed from cramped and outdated to a timeless space that serves as a serene culinary refuge for both homeowners and guests.
The initial goals of this project were to enlarge and update the kitchen by increasing prep space and maximizing storage. Due to the cramped nature of the original space, the powder room and adjacent laundry room were relocated to the home’s new addition and the kitchen layout was reformatted to improve workflow.
It was important for these clients to have a design that included ample storage but not one that would be weighed down by too many upper cabinets. To a achieve that light and airy feel, larger windows were placed above the sink. Open shelves adjacent to the new window allow light to flow freely through the space without blocking the views from the peninsula. A cabinet with textured wire mesh doors and an additional open shelf provide visual interest between the upper cabinets.
Cabinetry features include towel bar and trash pull-outs, an appliance garage, organized utensil drawers, and a large pantry. Decor’s Willow-painted cabinetry keeps the space light and warm while their contrasting Grey Smoke stained White Rift Oak gives the design balance and a pop of color.
The laundry and mud rooms, located off the kitchen, are a seamless reflection of the kitchen’s timeless design and also feature unique storage elements and the same classic shaker doors in the Willow paint.
