Over the last year, Claire, one of our kitchen and bath designers, partnered with JMS Custom Homes to provide design and cabinetry for 22 lakefront condo units at Meyer Place at Ferndale, a luxury condominium community in Wayzata, MN. Today, we are sharing the story of how the project evolved.
We were thrilled to work with with JMS Custom Homes on this project, which demanded the highest level of design, along with the quality and features people look for when purchasing or leasing a luxury condo in this beautiful town on the shores of Lake Minnetonka.
Initial Goals for the Project
Each condo unit in the complex is spacious and light-filled. Claire was responsible for designing cabinetry for the kitchen, the owner’s bath, the powder bath, and the laundry room. Claire also provided cabinetry for the entry way of the building (shown above) and a community party room.
The interior selections such as finishes, tile, hardware, lighting and more were selected by JMS Custom Homes.
Ten different kitchen layouts were used for the 22 units. By creating an efficient work triangle between the sink, refrigerator, and range, Claire achieved outstanding functionality in a relatively small space. Each kitchen features an island, ample storage and a mix of unique features such as open shelving and appliance garages.
Seven different owner’s bathroom layouts are used throughout the 22 condo units. Claire designed a variety of wall-length vanities for these bathrooms. In this unit, the tall linen cabinets hold towels and everyday essentials, while the placement of the double sinks optimize storage. The unique toe kick along the bottom of the sink-base cabinets and varying depths of the cabinetry add interest.
The vanities in the powder bathrooms were simple in design but also optimized functionality with various configurations of drawers and doors.
Other Notable Design Details:
- The focal point of each kitchen is a custom wood range hood by Vent-a-Hood.
- To create a high-quality feel in a luxury living environment, Cambria Countertops and Sub-Zero Wolf Appliances were incorporated into the overall concept.
- The bar area in the first-floor party room features an ADA-accessible sink.
We are grateful to have had the opportunity to provide the cabinetry and design for this beautiful condominium setting. Meyer Place is truly lakeside living at its best!
