We’re so excited to be sharing our Transitional Chic project. Designer Danielle Lardani worked with her clients in Rio Verde, AZ to redesign the kitchen and bar in their getaway home.
The clients had recently purchased a vacation home in Arizona and wanted to do some renovations. They wanted to create a more open space as well as update the kitchen layout and cabinetry. As you see in the three “before” photos below, the space was divided by many walls that prevented a natural flow, blocked the beautiful desert views, and made the home feel dark.
This 3D rendering shows how Danielle’s design will dramatically improve the clients’ space by opening it up and creating a beautifully fresh and functional kitchen.

When it came to creating a kitchen design that reflected their lifestyle, Danielle asked her clients many questions about how they wanted their space to function. She found that the main walkway to and from the pool area was between the island and the sink wall. This walkway needed to be sufficiently wide and clear of hazards such as protruding cabinets or countertops. Danielle followed the contour of the exterior wall and angled the island countertop and the sink base cabinets to ensure adequate width. With the large windows facing the backyard, there was no space for upper cabinets along the sink wall. Danielle solved this problem by adding wall cabinets on each side of the range hood and used glass inserts to make the space feel more open.
When it came time to select cabinets for their new space, Danielle’s clients told her that they desired something warmer than white to tie in with the Arizona vibe and the overall style of the home. Danielle selected two Wynnbrooke Cabinetry finishes, Stone in a Rustic Beech wood species for the island and a painted taupe finish for the perimeter. The clients’ loved the selection of two finishes because it added character and interest to the home.
The clients truly enjoy their new space, and Designer Danielle is happy she was able to be a part of redesigning this home for a lovely family.
